#TransformationTuesday: Frump To Fab

Let’s face it. We all have our moments, days, and weeks when a baggy pair or jeans, a stained, hole filled tee, & slippers become our wardrobe staples. Each of us has, at some point, thrown our hair up in a topknot, skipped makeup application, and ordered in our dinner.

For moms, wives, & working women, this might be an easier rut to fall into. Home is a place of comfort, a “no judgement zone”, a hiding place. But, what if, even just every now & then, the average woman could spice up her ensemble, get out of routine, and reconnect with herself and her spouse?

It’s possible! (Even with a busy schedule. πŸ™‚ ) And I’ll show you how to do it in 5 easy steps! You could do them blindfolded, & be ready for date night in seconds!

Frump To Fab

1) While a well-used, oversized shirt might be great when you’re cleaning out the garage or dodging spit up, you might appreciate something a bit more pressed & polished for a night out.

Why not try replacing your grungy tee with a feminine, semi-sheer blouse? The example shown is in a romantic, dusty pink shade with a hint of ruffle detailing. It can still be worn with, and balanced by, your favorite distressed jeans but, overall, gives a more sophisticated appearance.

2) Slippers, or house shoes, are made for a reason. They provide warmth & comfort, especially during winter months, on the days when we have laundry in the dryer, unkind winds outside, and a classic movie playing in our living room. However, they aren’t really something that evokes the word sexy.

How about slipping on a more structured, neutral/metallic, kitten heel? You don’t have to sacrifice simplicity or torture your feet to look good but, you will feel, and come across to be, confident & ladylike.

3) Are an eco-friendly, reusable tote carrier? There’s nothing wrong with that, as long as your bringing plenty if groceries home in it. Just because it can be used as a carryall, doesn’t mean it should be.

Supplement this pantry piece for a sleek, understated, clutch bag that will only allow you to tow around the essentials. Remember, you don’t need your two year old’s rubber ducky during a candlelit dinner. πŸ™‚

4)Recall those cheap, resin earrings you picked up when you were at the dollar store last week? Don’t pretend they aren’t already turning your ears green… I know, I’ve been there.

Try an easy transition by leaving the earrings off and putting on a faceted, statement necklace instead. You will draw attention to your face & provide a focal point in your outfit. A little bit of sparkle can go a long way.

5) Sheer gloss? No problem! And if that’s what you’re used to, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s colorless, shiny, and completely safe. In fact, it was my standby for years!

If you can, though, step out of the box & go for a bold shade of lipstick. It might not be something you wear daily but, for a special occasion, it might be just the finishing touch you need.

Those are my tips to go from frump to fab, FAST. If you implement any of these let me know πŸ™‚ I know this short list has really helped me.
Consider this: It takes just as much time to put together a bad outfit as it does a good one. Hmm…

Happy Tuesday!!!
