Goodbye Autumn: November 2014 Favorites

It’s been a couple of weeks since I updated the blog. To be completely honest, I don’t have a good excuse, other than being overwhelmed by responsibility… and who doesn’t have that? C’mon, you know you’re nodding your head as … Continue reading

Ariana Grande: Teen Vogue February 2014

I’ll admit that since I began photography business and had a baby, I’ve been a little out of pop culture news. But, somehow, beginning a blog throws you right back into it. In the last 7 months of blogging, I’ve … Continue reading

Love Pink: Top Four

As the admirable Audrey Hepburn once put it, “I believe in pink…” I’ve said before that I never used to be much of a pink lover. However, I’ve made exceptions over the past few years to include a wider range … Continue reading

October 2013 Favorites!

October Favorites

My October favorites are coming right on time this month and I feel like, although my list is simple, I picked some reliable tidbits to share with you 🙂 So let’s get started, shall we?

Lippie Splurge

My husband recently gave a speech and highlighted within it that most people tend to buy things when they’re anxious. I’m even like that, to an extent. Sometimes more than others.

It seems like, to me, that, every month, the week before Aunt Flo comes to visit, I have a psychotic (probably unreasonably real) pregnancy scare. You know, the whole, “Oh my gah, I might be pregnant!” feeling, right? Most women have had it. During that time, I tend to buy things (mostly makeup) in hopes of…well, I don’t exactly know. It’s not like the prettier I make myself the less pregnant I would be but, nevertheless, it’s a legitimate concern I’d say; especially, since I am currently unable to take any form of hormonal birth control.

Anyway, I was in Target on Thursday getting some baby needs (diapers, teething crackers…etc) for our 7 month old and ended up with not only my necessity items but, 4 different lip colors I felt like I couldn’t live without. Plus, the words “new” and “sale” in the same aisle is a dangerous duo for any female.

Below, I’ve linked, labeled, and swatched (hand & lips) the purchases I made. Enjoy 🙂

Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in “Bellini”

This is pretty much the perfect peachy, nude color on it’s own but, I think it’d look great layered over a matte, nude lipstick; like, Revlon’s “Nude Attitude”.

Manic Monday: 3 Easy Steps to a Fresh Face

These three products started my day off right! Here’s how…

Last night we were out running some errands and I decided, as usual, to “wonder” over to the cosmetics department to see what I could see. I swatched a number of different products and didn’t really find anything that struck my fancy enough to buy it, until… I came across the Revelon Photoready BB Cream. I had run out of the previous BB cream I was using and after testing this one out on the back of my hand, I knew it was the one for me. I picked it up in the color Light/Medium. I was surprised to find that the consistency was quite creamy and thick but, it spread on smoothly and felt very light!

Then, I remembered that I wanted to go check out the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder that I have read so many blog posts about. Also, you guys know that I talk about Tanya Burr and her tutorials   24/7 because I think she is pretty much the next best thing since sliced bread, and so do many of the UK tabloids. She swears by this powder and she has never let me down in one of her product reviews yet so, I thought “what the heck!” and let her influence guide me once again; and, once again, she was right. I bought this pressed powder in (004) ‘Sandstorm’ and adore it. It’s silky, subtle, and remarkably NOT cakey.

This morning, I woke up late (as usual) and had very little time to get ready before I had to take my son to the doctor for his check-up. I grabbed these two products, first applying the BB cream. It instantly perfected my skin and made me seem to “glow”. I looked like I got the best 8 hours of sleep ever! On top, I applied a light layer of the Stay Matte powder & immediately looked like someone airbrushed my skin. It was noticeably soft and flawless looking. I haven’t been as proud of a “no makeup” look in quite a long time!

For a bit of color, I decided to use my old standby L’Oreal True Match Blush in (N5-6) ‘Apricot Kiss’. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel undone or like I needed more than these three products. It was a nice laid back, “I didn’t try too hard, but still look presentable” face to put forward. For added benefit, you could apply your favorite concealer and/or mascara.

This will definitely be my new fresh face, hurried makeup routine and I hope you’ll try it too!

Have a great day! 😉 And don’t forget to like, comment, & follow/subscribe!

Rainy Day Glam Up

Husband and I are bumming around the house in workout clothes and eating leftover chinese. This can only mean one thing… it’s a cloudy, rainy day. But, even when we aren’t feeling our best, sometimes, we women need a bit of a glam up to make ourselves have a more positive outlook; even if it’s just for a few moments.

love rainy days at home watching movies, snuggled in a big, fluffy blanket. But, just in case you are going out tonight,  this makeup look might work for you too!

These colors would work on many different skin tones and eye colors because most of them are shimmers and made stand-out from the complexion. I think this is a great, simplified smokey eye option for daytime in the fall and winter. Definitely not your, run-of-the-mill “let me run to the store” look but, if you want a bit of edge in your day-to-day then maybe this is the kind of thing to go for.

Products Used:

Smashbox Liner in Taupe- This is a great, creamy liner! I love the way it comes in the Smashbox Softbox palette because I like to use it as more of a paint pot. They have released new versions of this palette so, I’m not sure if the one in the link is still available. I put this all over my lid and also underneath my eye.

Revelon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Copper Canyon I’ve had these shadows for ages and I really couldn’t live without them! They glide on and blend seamlessly. For this look, I used the gold color from the palette. I used this all over the lid, on top of the taupe liner.

L’Oreal HiP Studio Secrets Professional Matte Shadow Duo in (917) Dashing– I really love the girly look of these shadows when applied together, however, I tend to mix the pink on with other colors because such a light shade kind of makes me look sick haha! For the eye makeup above I blended the black color into the crease and outer edge of my eye.

Smashbox Shadow in Truffle- This shadow is my favorite in the palette I mentioned above. I just hit pan on it and I am going to be heartbroken if I cannot replace the palette once I’ve gotten down to the nitty gritty on the others 😦 This color is still available HERE, however, it is described as a “matte taupe” and the one I have is more iridescent. Definitely swatch, if possible, before purchase! I used this in the inner corner to lighten up the brownish cast from the Revelon Creme Shadow.

Ulta  Eyeliner Pencil in Black/Brown (similar)- They have changed the design and function of this liner since I bought mine but, all-in-all, the staying power of this liner is great! I put is just on my waterline for added effect.

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara in Blackest Black– After curling my eyelashes I applied this to the top and bottom. I really like this mascara for being a drugstore product. It does what it says it should. See my review, here.

If you try this look, please post a link to it in the comments! Have a great day! 🙂
