I don’t know about you but, I am completely chilled the bone. Although the temperatures keep fluctuating (for example, this weekend is supposed to shoot up to 75 degrees), I find myself- on most nights- reaching for the cuddliest thing … Continue reading
For the last few years, blue handbags have been spotted on the arm of numerous trend-setting celebrities. And, this season, what is Glamour magazine (November 2013 issue) saying is the hottest accessory? A blue handbag! When it comes to what … Continue reading
We just arrived back from New York this afternoon and boy! am I bushed! This was our first attempt at a vacation, not only with two kids but, with my parents. I can honestly say that things turned out a … Continue reading
I don’t know if you go to see plays or shows at your local theater much but, if you’re like me, you probably wish you did it more often. So, when the opportunity arose for us to go see The … Continue reading
Yesterday was a frustrating day…That aside, however, we did have a lovely visit with my “step-nephew” who is more like a friend since, oddly, we are the same age. He recently moved to Wallkill, NY and we hadn’t seen him in … Continue reading
First & foremost, let me just say that you should never, ever, ever wear brand new shoes to walk around in the city of Manhattan. At least not brand new ankle booties without socks. Yikes!
Yesterday was our first full day (one of many to come) in NY and I couldn’t have been more excited. I picked something casual and comfortable to wear. It was a super sunny, crisp, fall day; totally gorgeous! I didn’t know that the ankle booties would get me problems until I started walking for more than 30 minutes and we were already too far away from the house to go back for socks…etc. So, like a true fashionista I stuck it out and now have humongous gashes on my heels where blisters used to be. Oh well, it was worth it. Lets just say, you’ve been warned.
We spent the day doing a few just for fun things, a few educational things, and eat lots of yummy food! Food is always my favorite part 😉
I don’t think I could ever live in NYC, unless I was single, because the hustle and bustle of the big city lifestyle isn’t really my speed. I’m quite the homebody and enjoy my quiet time in my own space, and wide open area where I can just breathe. But, a week surrounded by people from the world over, experiencing different languages, cultures, sights, and smells all in this ‘melting pot’ of a place is really amazing. It always takes my breath away to see how outstandingly diverse the human race can be and yet, we all have so much in common.
Cardigan: Borrowed from my mom
Black Blouse: Target, approx $20
Boyfriend Jeans: Gap, $40
Ankle Booties: Nordstrom Rack, $70 (splurge!)
I also thought my mom looked nice today and talked her into letting me use some photos for the blog. Isn’t my mama cute?
And she got her gorgeous, military style, navy jacket at a consignment store!
Fashion Tip: Don’t be afraid to look through consignment and resale store clothing, as well as Goodwill, or eBay. You never know what you’ll find! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. 😉
I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far. Happy Hump Day!
If you’re like me, you make lists on the back of lists you already accomplished to remind yourself to make a neater version of the same list later. That’s my OCD… lists, on lists, on lists. Because of that, I have been thinking about what to pack for our New York trip, coming up next week, for the last few weeks.
Today, I just couldn’t contain myself and started piecing some things together for our FULL day in the city, where I plan to eat, shop, and spend time with my family.
Here’s what I came up with… And, I’m totally in love.
Flared Leg Jeans: eBay, $15.
(I talk more about these here… Someone definitely ripped themselves off by selling these in such perfect condition so cheap)
Plain White Tee- Target, $10
Fringe Vest- Bijuju, $36
Felt Panama- Bijuju, $15
Loafers- Shoe Carnival, $30
Leather/Stone Bracelet- $40 (splurge purchase from a quaint store in Charleston, SC)
So, as the title of this post suggests (and after reading that I got two of the items I’m wearing in the photos from a store called Bijuju. I’m not sure how many of you have this store near you (since they are only in North and South Carolina) but, if you do, you love it– I already know. 😉 Seriously the best store when it comes to spicing up your wardrobe. Visit their website and check out some of their super cute inventory.
What would you wear if you were planning a fun walk-about in the city?– Leave your ideas below or post your outfit and put your link in the comments!

Rompers and playsuits are something I’m a BIG fan of for any season. Granted, you have to find the right style and fit for your body type, which I’m still learning re-learning due to post baby body changes. However, I truly … Continue reading
This morning I woke up with a horrible migraine around 3 AM, which has since taken over my entire body. So, as I sit here in almost complete darkness, with my ceiling fan on high (wishing there was an ULTRA high setting), in my hubby’s x-large tee, with an Anthro Mug full of Gevalia and not a stitch of makeup on… I thought today would be a good day for a wishlist post [and some badly needed grammar corrections on previous posts!].
1) Miss Selfridge Faux Leather Pleated Midi Skirt– The only reason this skirt is on my wishlist instead of in my closet is because I have never ordered anything from the Miss Selfridge USA site and don’t know if the sizes are still listed in UK sizing or in American. (Any insight on this subject would be helpful!)
Pleather is making a BIG comeback this year and while flipping through the pages of the most recent issue of ELLE magazine I saw that school-girl style, pleated skirts (long & short) are going down the runways this season. It’s kind of an irresistible trend and a super versatile item to have in your wardrobe, which is why it’s #1 on my list. I’m not usually one to just go along with the crowd, especially when it comes to style. I enjoy finding pieces that I like, whether the media says they look good or not. However, this specific skirt is definitely customizable to almost anyone’s fashion sense and could translate well from day to night. And at $46 (34 Euro), it’s a pretty reasonable element to include in a post like this one.
2) Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in (591) “Alchimie“- Retailing for $27 online & in-store this is definitely a shade of polish to splurge on. Mossy greens are a great color for fall and are showing up all over runways in Paris. It’s a great alternative to the burgundy and red shades that usually greet us in the autumn season and, with a bit of shimmer, it’s a must-have color for sure! However, if you are more into the darker, ruddy colors at this time of the year try out this varnish in another great hue- Rouge Noir. Both of the tints I’ve mentioned here are limited edition (so, I hope I get mine soon enough!). View all of the Chanel nail colors, including the limited editions, HERE.
3) Illamasqua Lipstick in “Over”– I’m a big fan of Illamasqua lipstick, although some think it’s drying. I have this one in the color Plunge, a matt, pastel pink that really stands out on the lips. The company recently featured “Over” on their Facebook page and it was love at first sight for me. It, being a coral pink shade, can be appropriate for number of seasons. Possibly not winter but, from the swatches online, it looks like it’s definitely wearable for the majority of the year. It’s over $20 but, for this adaptable of a tone, I think it’s worth it.
Now, there is one more thing I MUST make mention of…
I saw this bag also while going page by page through the September issue of ELLE. At first, I just kept turning pages and didn’t really think much of it. But, over the past few days this bag has been haunting me. I’ve been fantasizing about it, I admit.
I can’t officially add it to my list of must haves because it is selling, in numerous colors, for approximately $500! There is also one that includes a leopard motif on the Kate Spade website for $1000. Needless to say, any price between those two is considerably out of my price range. But, I thought I’d show you guys my favorites anyway; so that we can all drool together. 😉

What do you guys think of these items? Aren’t these totes to die for?
