Good morning, my dears! I am so happy to be pouring energy back into blogging. It’s becoming more and more of a release, especially because we have been going through some stressful times recently. I’ve been on a bit of … Continue reading
Leather. Cozy. Adorable. The first three words that come to mind when this particular brand comes to mind.
I know, I know. You’re probably thinking, “Omg, didn’t she just talk about loafers not too long ago?” Well, my friends, I sure did! But, today’s post isn’t just about footwear… It’s about all things Minnetonka.
Call me crazy but, I first found out about this brand browsing the aisle of TJ Maxx some 2 years ago. Now, I’m not what you’d call a “Maxxinista”. I don’t, generally, have good success at places like that… There’s no specific reason, I guess. I just don’t get on well at ‘overflow’ stores. It’s funny, though, when I complement my friends on their outfits, many times they tell me that their blouse, dress, or bag came from TJ Maxx.
Anyway, I found some super cute Jr. Trapper moccasins. I kid you not, I wore these things out! Winter, summer, rain, or shine. They were my go-to casual shoe, especially during pregnancy! Normally, in Wilmington, it’s easy to wear flip flops all year long. But, moccasins are a wonderful alternative to my usual Rainbows. Unfortunately, after such heavy wear, I had to get rid of them… However, the lovely Heather, over at Revival Photography, kept my adoration alive by posting instagram photos of her new Minnetonka closet additions. (She shares my love 🙂 Follow her and her groovy hubby @revivalphoto)
Recently, since we are full fledge in the midst of autumn air, I have been missing my faux fur lined little slip-ons. But, this time, I was looking for a ‘grown-up’ version. So, guess what I ordered yesterday?
I have been coveting leopard loafers/moccasins for the longest! But, I felt like I was being cliché since everyone seems like they have a pair. These moccasins are more my style, comfort level, and still a fantastic neutral, casual shoe. I can confidently wear this without feeling too dressed up or down. I actually got them for $5 (+ S&H) because I has $35 worth of DSW rewards coupons! 🙂 How rad, right?! Still, though, these babies are only $40 regularly, which is a great price considering how well made they are.
But, let me remind you, this post just isn’t just about shoes… Although, I could go on and on. Minnetonka has super cute products that also include hats and handbags. If you visit their website, you will also see that they advise and provide the supplies needed to properly care for your purchases. Below are a just few of my favorite Minnetonka goodies.
A wave of colder weather (and when I say “colder” I mean no longer 85) has whipped through this week creating the perfect sweater weather. The collection of items below is similar to what you might find me running around in with my kids & hubby on a chilly Saturday afternoon. I love all things Aztec, leather, and fringe… Not to mention a little aqua sparkle! I used some of my preferred Minnetonka basics like the gray/fringe crossbody bag, and the taupe, softsoled moccasin.
Caught our flight to NYC this morning and… WE MADE IT! Such a nice feeling to be back in this city! ❤️ There is something so artistic and independent about the spirit of this place…
Wanted to share with you guys my outfit of the day. I think I made a good choice…
The cell phone photo isn’t the best and airport lighting is unflattering but, I am comfortable– especially for the rainy weather we encountered upon arrival.
Sweater- Target, $22
Jeans- Gap, $40
Scarf- Charlotte Russe, $5 (on sale)
Suede Boots- Delia*s, (old)
Hope you all are having a fantastic Monday!
This is a look that I put together last night, although feeling extremely crappy, because my husband and I had an important meeting to attend. Even though the nature of the meeting was quite serious, I wanted to put a little edge and uniqueness into the outfit… maybe to take the edge off how I was feeling?? I’m not sure but, I hope you like it.
I wanted to be comfortable, channeling a little bit of my inner rocker chick, and give a little bit of spice.
Black and white can be so boring! And separates can become predictable. But, put the two together and you might be surprised what a little closet “mash-up” can result in!
This outfit is something I think could be worn to numerous events and would be ideal for someone who has an office job. It has a bit of a ‘gal about town’ flair to it without being overly showy; work appropriate yet, transitional. Especially, when you evaluate each piece individually– which we will do in the credit portion.
I paired this look with an intense eye, straightened hair, and nude lip. I love the Revelon Super Lustrous Lipstick in “Nude Attitude” for makeup like this. (see below)
Xhilaration Juniors Convertible High Low Challis Maxi Dress– No longer sold in-store but, on clearance online. I picked up this dress at Target for $20-$25 over the summer for a work event. It is flowing, comfortable, and cute whether you wear it strapless, spaghetti straps attached, or layer it like I did here. Mine is in the color “Black” but, as you can see, it isn’t solid colored. The white design gives it a bit of a tribal look, which I love and is really in right now. To see the top of this dress, please click the link.
14th Union Black Semi-Sheer High Low T-Shirt (similar)- I couldn’t find a photo of this, probably because 14th Union is not very widespread. I got this shirt at Nordstrom Rack some time ago. It’s very plain which is actually great because you can have every element of your outfit doing something crazy. I layered this with a black camisole because I didn’t want the top of the dress poking out and it gave me some added support, if you know what I mean. I am also in love with this top from River Island.
Francesca’s Collections Black Blazer w/ White Lapel (similar)- At the beginning of spring I snagged this jacket for $10 on the FINAL SALE rack at Francesca’s and have been waiting 6 months to wear it. It gives a very polished look to an otherwise casual outfit. Of course, normally, I would wear it with a pop of color but, I think it worked very well with other items in its color family.
Owl Pendant Necklace (similar)- A gift from my mom when owls first started becoming popular. My love for owls is just as real as when she got me this!
Fuchsia Suede Pumps (similar)- My husband got these for me way back when he was just my boyfriend. I don’t usually find a lot of things I like at Rack Room Shoes but, these jumped out at me and I’ve been able to pair them with several ensembles since. They are girly and funky at the same time and I think they really speak for themselves in terms of style. The Steve Maddens in the link are a bit more on the feminine side, however they could be slightly more adaptable.
That’s it for today– Have a wonderful Friday! 🙂
